Where I am in Life: United States Air Force Academy

Well this is my first post on my recently created blog. I am currently a Junior attending the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, just outside Colorado Springs. Initially I was not accepted to the Academy, so I did a year of prep school at Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama to earn my appointment. Even though MMI was a long year and it would have been awesome to directly enter the academy, it was at little ole' Marion where I met the love of my life, Chelsea Lynn Kay. Besides meeting Chelsea, I made a lot of great friends and feel MMI helped shape me and give me a direct perspective of the Army not many Air Force Cadets have.

I am in no way arrogant enough to think being accepted into the Academy or making it to my Junior year was by my own merits. I could not have been as successful in my life or at the Academy without the support and love of my friends and family. Many nights when I'm tempted and ready to give up, my friends, family, and Chee have been there for me with words of encouragement and love. On top of that, just being here along with all the other incredible experiences in my life I've been given, are blessings more than I deserve.

  1. Zachary,

First off, this is an awesome blog you have going! I cannot thank you enough for all of your words of encouragement through the hardtimes as well. And your family has also constantly given me words of encouragement that I cannot thank them enough for.

I will be there for you until the day that you graduate and forever thereafter. :) You will never be alone between all of your loved ones, your friends, and me. :) When you have that moment where you are feeling you are at your lowest point, just whip out some pictures of your family and friends back home and remind yourself that they all KNOW you can do it... and that I absolutely KNOW you can do it as well. These academies are meant to push us to the point that some would feel is impossible to get through... and when we push through to the best of our abilities, the academy hands us that graduation certificate and we then commission as officers in our perspective branches. :) And let me tell you, my love.... it is not that far away at all now!! Only about 19 months left out of our 47 month experience!!! :-D

You are doing phenomenal things there, Zachary. I know that times get tough... but we'll push through together and with our families and friends beside us and we'll commission together!!

I love you, Zachary Dale Madison!!!

  2. Chelsea,

Thanks babe! I'm glad you like it :) You are most welcome for the words of encouragement, I am merely returning the favor.

That means the world to me, and I will always be there for you as well. I will be there through it all, the good and the bad :) Ya it is pretty tough because the academies are set up to develop well-rounded and balanced officers. That means being tested and developed in nearly ever faucet possible. No one is incredible in every single category so there is always something everyone struggles with. For me this the non-technical classes and I know you're the opposite :P But that just means that we can help each other in where we lack and cover each other's weaknesses :) I cannot wait to commission in our respective branches and serve together in the best military in the world!!! Wow... That is not long at all until graduation!!! :D

You are doing incredible things at West Point too, Chee. We will finish strong together and then I can't wait to commission together and be your first salute :D

I love you too, Chelsea Lynn Kay!!!!
